BO GODBOLD

Relationship Builders

I was born and raised in Cheraw, SC. In 1994, I graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Psychology and afterwards enjoyed 24 years of sales and project management work within the construction industry. During these years I raised three children and served my church community facilitating classes, groups, and councils.

In 2014 my children were old enough for me to allow myself to go back to school and pursue my passion and gifts in helping others. I completed my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Webster University in October 2017 and received a temporary associate license to practice counseling in the State of South Carolina in 2018 and a full unrestricted license in May of 2020.

In 2016, I had the opportunity to work for Coastal Samaritan Counseling as a graduate intern. In 2018 I was hired as a full-time school-based counselor at the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. This led to establishing the relationships that opened the doors for me to be the first full time Mental Health Counselor at the Waccamaw High School in Pawleys Island, while building my private practice in evening hours. In 2021 I left the school system, transitioning to full-time private practice.

In my practice I have been able to integrate my graduate clinical training, my experience developing strong personal relationships with all types of clients in sales and management, and my commitment to contribute to my communities’ growth and development.

The integration of multiple skills, theories, strategies, and intervention models has provided me a clear person centered and bio-psychosocial-spiritual approach to helping adults, children, adolescents and families in individual, couple, and group settings with emphasis in family systems, psychodynamic approaches and Gottman Method for couples. Most recently, I became a Certified Yoga Instructor and have been reflecting on ways to help individuals and couples integrate their emotional, physical and spiritual needs, with the vision to bring comprehensive health experiences and tools to the community in group settings.

In working with adolescents, adults, couples and families, my focus and efforts are centered around the importance of relationships within the family and social spaces we occupy.
